What We Do
Information Resources
AED-SATELLIFE strengthens the global health community by facilitating dialogue
and disseminating relevant information on the world's most urgent health
topics.
Building strong health care delivery systems in resource-poor countries
requires reliable data and knowledge management tools. Policy makers, planners,
program and resource managers, and health practitioners need up-to-date,
relevant information to make sound decisions on a daily basis.
Our services -- all free of charge -- focus on issues of particular concern
in resource-poor areas of the world. Using email and the World Wide Web,
AED-SATELLIFE enables the exchange of information for decision-making through:
-
Discussion groups on urgent health topics that support daily
communication with colleagues
-
Publications featuring current, reliable public health and
clinical content
-
GetWeb, a tool that enables users to obtain useful web page
content via email
HealthNet Knowledge Networks
AED-SATELLIFE created and supports HealthNet knowledge networks in six
countries. These locally owned and managed organizations provide a variety
of services to their local health communities, including free or low-cost
email, computer literacy training, health data collection, and information
resources. AED-SATELLIFE works with each site to build their capacity to
become self-sustaining and to support diverse technology and information
initiatives driven by local needs.

in partnership with other organizations, institutions, development agencies,
and donors who are also committed to improving health throughout the world.
